New Endo does not think T4 and T3 readings are relevant.

My new Endo says that T4 and T3 levels are not necessary. She only wants Ft3 and Ft4 readings. Help, I am concerned, as I have Empty Sella Syndrome . Therefore, my TSH will not be the way to assess my results. My previous Endo always requested T4 and T3 readings, as well as Ft3 and Ft4. It took him many years to get me ‘Right’. Sadly, he has now retired. I am afraid that this Endo will get me off T3. Is the new Endo correct?

Arkenstone I think the endo is right. Ft4 and FT3 are the hormones that are unbound in the blood and are freely available for the body to use to put it in unscientific terms. Ft4 and ft3 are the levels hypos need to work with and to adjust till optimal.

I think the Endocrinologist is knowledgeable as she is taking FT4 and FT3 blood tests.

Don't be afraid of her removing your T3 - it might not happen and you would be worrying unnecessarily.

I take T3 only and I know exactly how I would feel if it was removed.
