Hi, I've been taking Hydrocortisone for secondary adrenal insufficiency since 2017 after partial removal of a craniopharyngioma. I've been experiencing more fatigue and poor sleep issues recently and it was suggested that I could trial Prednisolone to see it it helped. I wondered if anyone has switched to Prednisolone, and why and if you feel any different, better or worse and if it helped. I know the default is Hydrocortisone but I don't know why some people start of on Prednisolone and what the criteria is for prescribing it. Any information welcome.
Thank you

Just out of curiosity, have you been tested for low Aldosterone? I too take HC and didn't feel better after 9 months, it turned out I had low aldosterone and now add fludrocortisone, I feel much better with that.
Well no, not to my knowledge. I confess I'd not heard of it before so I just googled it.
I'm taking desmopressin for diabetes insipidus. I don't have Addisons. I had a recent blood test for iron, vitamin B12, kidney function etc and all fine. I'll mention fludrocortisone to my endo consultant next time I see him
No I take hydrocortisone 26 mcg a day and I don't have Addisons, I have 24 hr low cortisol. Read the link I sent you, and see if you can relate to it and the symptoms. If you can, then you can request a low Aldosterone test. Then its up to consultant whether to put you on fludrocortisone.
