I was prescribed 5 mg by my doctor. No saliva test just muscle testing g that showed low adrenals. I can’t stay awake around 1:30 in the afternoon no matter how hard I try.

My doctor prescribed 5 mg 2 times a day. Thank you😊

You need to get further testing to find out if you really do have low cortisol rather than a "dr" giving you steroids because your muscles are weak!!?? At the very least stop Hydrocortisone for 24 hours & ask your GP to do an early morning blood cortisol to see what your levels are. Low vit B12 & low Vit D will also cause tiredness & weak muscles!

I haven’t done a saliva test just muscle testing .

Who has prescribed your Hydrocortisone? If it was by a Dr following tests then you should take it. If it was by someone else then don't take it. I take steroids as I have adrenal insufficiency caused by the removal of a pituitary tumour, if I didn't take them I would die within a few days. My steroids are replacement for the steroids that my body doesn't make so they are not above what we need. Long term steroids use for other conditions can stop the adrenal glands from working so you end up needing them in order to live, so you are right their use should not be taken lightly. However if they have been given to you because it has been shown that you have very little natural cortisol in your body, then you need to take them, as you risk becoming very ill & dying if you don't take them.
