Daughter post partum thyroiditis

I’ve always found great advice and help here and need it again.

My daughter (she has 6 month old baby) recent history struggling with night sweats, severe insomnia was eventually after 4th telephone appointment given a blood test and her T4 off the scale - now diagnosed as post partum thyroiditis. Referred as emergency to hosp heart and BP are OK and she has been prescribed propranolol and allowed a second week of zopiclone (sleeping tablet) which isn’t working.

A telephone appointment has been given for end of august with endocrinologist but no blood test 🙄

I’m aware through my own history (hypothyroid) how woeful treatment can be but she has a small baby and the lack of sleep is really making her ill. Bad enough that the GP’s didn’t look at a physical cause and suggested she was anxious parent and referred her to well being courses now they defer to the endocrinologist who hasn’t seen her and won’t be in play until end of August

What can she do to help restore her health - such is the condition it can tip towards hypothyroid or fizzle out…. My experience is different but of course I worry about her and want to do all I. An to help her advocate for her own health

Just to add to this she has phoned GP after another night of no sleep they refer her to endocrinologist and to ask for earlier appointment. The response hers is a non urgent case and only appointment is end of August by telephone - sitting with her in tears I despair of our NHS

Thyroiduk.org.uk have a list of private Endocrinologists and it might be worthwhile consulting one if they are nearer to you and, at least, be given help/advice/prescription if needed.

Blood draw should be at the earliest possible (TSH is higher then).

It should be a fasting test but she can drink water.
