Do you have current test results (including reference ranges) that you can post? We can't really say much without seeing them. If you don't have them then ask the receptionist at your surgery for a print out.

Muscle weakness can be caused by other things. Are you still taking statins? See:

nhs.uk/conditions/statins/c...

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.

Suggest you get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done Low vitamin levels are extremely common as we get older

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

On levothyroxine it’s important to have GOOD vitamin levels

Levothyroxine is Ft4 and is converted in cells into active hormone Ft3

Poor vitamin levels leads to poor conversion of Ft4 to Ft3 and therefore low Ft3 levels

High cholesterol suggests low Ft3 levels

Ask GP to test, thyroid and vitamin levels…..but unlikely to get Ft3 tested on NHS

Many U.K. patients test privately

ALWAYS book thyroid test early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
