Better better thyriod levels
He's taking T3? Three times a week??? He needs a new endo. You cannot do that with T3. You have to take the same dose every single day if you want it to do what it's supposed to do.
And 6 mcg is only a tiny dose. So is 100 mcg levo.
And, I don't know who said his TSH should be around 3, because that's very wrong. It should be 1 or under - one T3, TSH is usually suppressed - although perhaps not on only 18 mcg a week! But, that just goes to show you how under-medicated he is.
So, what should he do? Well, start by taking 6 mcg T3 EVERY DAY. And, after two weeks, increase it by 6 mcg.
Is he buying his own T3 or is it prescribed? Because it's a strange amount. Are the tablets 25 mcg?
In the last post he was on 100mcg daily plus 12.5mcg all levo
Pardon? lol He was taking 112.5 mcg levo, no T3? OK Sorry, should have looked at the last post. I don't know, I'm lost now. I just know he's under-medicated with a TSH of over 3, it should be more like 1 or under. And, looking back at this post, I did misread it.
So, let's start again. kimsmith1234, he needs an increase of 25 mcg, so that he's on 125 mcg every day, retest in six weeks. He also needs a new doctor that knows something about thyroid, and doesn't just try and get his TSH somewhere within the range, anywhere will do. Because it won't. x
Can you tell us - is your husband on levothyroxine only?If his TSH is 3 then he should be on more levothyroxine. TSH should be near 1.
Is he taking just levothyroxine
Or levothyroxine plus T3
If taking T3 it’s essential to take exactly same dose every day
On levothyroxine TSH should ALWAYS be below 2
Your husband needs FULL thyroid and vitamin testing
ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Does he always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested
What vitamin supplements is he currently taking

Looking at replies to previous post I can't see where anyone has suggested that the TSH level to aim for is 3.
The aim of a treated hypo patient on Levo only, generally, is for TSH to be 1 or below with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their reference ranges, if that is where you feel well.
If he is sensitive to his thyroid meds he needs to raise his dose gradually in small increments over a period of time until he feels well. If he can't tolerate levothyroxine tablets then he should discuss with his GP and ask to try levothyroxine oral solution which is available.
Just testing TSH alone does not tell us our thyroid status. TSH is not a thyroid hormone, it's a pituitary hormone which sends a signal to the thyroid. T4 and T3 are the actual thyroid hormones and testing FT4 and FT3 tell us our thyroid status.
