Help (again🤦‍♀️) w Adding Levo to T3

Do intital headaches & bloat w levothyroxine ever subside?

Or… are these the reasons that many just abandon levothyroxine … & go w T3 only?

I am trying to restart w 37.5 mcg of levo w 40 mcg liothyronine in hopes of minimizing effects of T4…. & hoping the effects will go way w time. Has anyone found success w this combo/dosage after a rocky start?

Once again… liothyronine is difficult to obtain without taking T4 too. I know there are sources outside USA… but trying to stay within the system … for many reasons.

Thank you all… as drs are tone death & call supresssd TSH “ malpractice if under .5 despite blood levels within range.

Wish i could exist without a primary care/internist… but at 72… not an option… despite good health outside this drama!

Best & thxxxx!!!

Why isn't self-treating an option at 72 if you feel well apart from hypo? I'm 77 and I self-treat.

I couldn't tolerate T4 either. And it wasn't the amount because it made me feel bad right from the starter dose, and just the same when it was 200 mcg. People ask me what symptoms I got with T4 and I really can't reply. Nothing specific like headaches or anything, I just felt bad. So relieved when I gave it up and started T3 only. From time to time I have tried to add in T4, hoping it would get easier. First with 25 mcg. Next time with 12.5 mcg... It never did get easier and each time I was just so relieved to give it up again. Some people are just like that. And, I can't see the point in making yourself ill just to please your doctor - it's not his life, his body, his health, it's yours, and you know what you need and what you don't need.

I don't know if the symptoms will go away with time, but I suspect they won't. They never did for me.

Thank you!Is your TSH always below .5?

If I end up in ER… I need a primary care

Well, self-treating never stopped me getting primary care when needed. But, I don't know what the laws are in the US. I live in France.

And, Los Angeles could be unto itself

Have you looked at the excipients (fillers). It’s those that could be causing your headaches and bloating. Perhaps you could try a different brand of Levo.
