The doctor lowered my levothyxine from 112-100, numbers are good but I’ve developed ringing in my ears that I’ve never had before. Is it too low of a dosage? Anyone else experience this?

Ringing in ears
Tinnitus is a common symptom. It can come with too high hormone levels or too low hormone levels.Mine started when I was hyper and got worse when I was an undermedicated hypo.
Why was dose levothyroxine reduced
Always test thyroid levels early morning, before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin levels last tested
Low vitamin levels extremely common with Hashimoto’s
As you have Hashimoto’s are you on strictly gluten free diet
Yes, I have Hashimotos and Covid sent my thyroid into a tailspin. I was getting palpitations and jittery and my dosage was too high. They lowered and it’s helped the racing heart but developed ringing in the ears.
Hi Jackie Pooh 😊
You really need to know the results if your blood tests for vitamins and thyroid panel before doctor changes medication. They play ‘patient ping pong’ (see my profile for explanation). Drs in many cases have a complete inability to effectively interpret tests and incorporate them into the holistic picture (symptoms, recent health etc).
SlowDragon is spot on.
I do not rely on ‘bald’ NHS tests. I get a full private test done twice a year. I take the financial hit as it allows me to see the full picture and keep well.
This forum saved me ❤️ With their amazing advice.
I also do not ‘do as I’m told’ by the doctor if I think they are barking up the wrong tree and have put a few straight. I’m on a full therapeutic dose and doing ok! I got myself there in spite of my local surgery. They ultimately had to acquiesce to my demands as I read up on the subject and got ahead of them. I’m very strident when protecting my health.
Honestly pays to 😊👍
The longer I battle Hashimotos the more I realize the doctors DON’T understand what we are dealing with from day to day. I have become more of a fighter, but not as strong as you are-YET! Your message is encouraging. I’m tired of being made to feel like I’m a hypochondriac or told, “Your levels are within range so move along.”
That’s the way to do it 😊
Some will work with you, but some try to claim ‘undeserved ground’ i.e. trying to impose their will despite their gross lack of knowledge. Those are the ones I give short shrift.
In fairness the clue is in the name General Practitioner- I have no expectations beyond that, but do get annoyed when some of them masquerade as experts.
Hi Jackie , wondering if your ringing in the ears has gone as I've got it really bad. I don't have any thyroid issues and I'm on Elvanse 30mg and have a feeling this is the cause , it's driving me a little mad !
