Ferritin is 42 ug/l which is in the normal range. However, my hair has been falling out and I have read that this can happen if your ferritin falls below 50ug/l. My iron however seems the high end of normal. I will post all of my latest iron results below. Is it worth me supplementing as everything else seems in the normal range. I am a meat eater and generally have a very healthy diet so I don’t know why my ferritin would be the low side of normal. Other than I let gluten creep into my diet last year and more recently did the gluten challenge for a coeliac test. Coeliac bloods were negative but still being referred to a gastroenterologist as I have one of the genes for coeliac and all the symptoms. I also appear to be low in calcium and zinc as I have white spots and ridges on my nails but haven’t tested for these.

According to some experts, ferritin levels of at least 40 ng/ml are required to stop hair loss, while levels of at least 70 ng/ml are needed for hair regrowth. The optimal ferritin level for thyroid function is between 90-110 ng/ml.
With your serum iron and saturation so high then taking iron tablets will increase them and can lead to toxicity, not a good idea.
You can help raise your level by eating liver regularly, maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, also liver pate, black pudding, and including lots of iron rich foods in your diet
Amazing, thank you so much for the response. I did think this about supplementing plus ferritin is the heme type of iron that you get from food. I have started eating liver once a week again so hopefully that should help. Thank you for the info. 🙏🏻
