Morning side T3

I have been prescribed T3 for the past 2 months along with T4 but this month my pharmacy can no longer obtain any T3. They have tried another wholesaler but to no avail. I have only just started to feel slightly better and dread going back to feeling dreadful once again. Has anyone been able to source this medication or is it totally out of stock.

I would try different pharmacies as well. Ive been to many nearly every time I need T3. And some will do it once or twice then say they cant so I go to another. Im backwards and forwards. My Endos secretary intervened in the beginning as well. I go between Boots, Asda and some times Kamsons, just so I can have my medication. Tescos wouldnt even touch it for me but not tried again recently.

Small independent pharmacies are often much more helpful

5mcg. No local pharmacies can obtain any at present. Lloyds is trying a different supplier but could be up to 10 days if they can source any that at the moment appears doubtful. I am going to call Morningside direct. Thank you for your help

When someone reports that a particular medicine cannot be obtained by their pharmacy, I always suggest they consider contacting the pharmaceutical company/manufacturer directly.

We have had many occasions when the information given by the pharmacy to the member has not been accurate.

Examples with good outcomes have included:

• There were issues, but they are now, or will very shortly be, resolved;

• There is no issue and it is not clear why the pharmacy said there was;

• The product has a new branding - and is now only available under the new name;

• Give the pharmacist some information and they will be able to get the product.

And examples with bad outcomes:

• The product is no longer available;

• There is an issue that will not be resolved in the time required;

• The product has been recalled.

Quite often, members have found that the pharmaceutical company/manufacturer can and will advise how a pharmacy can obtain stock. At the worst, you can find out from an authoritative source that there really is an issue that will not be resolved. With pharmacies, you will almost always have at least one extra company - the distributor - between the pharmaceutical company/manufacturer and the pharmacy, allowing confusion to enter.

Some chain pharmacies might not allow branches to order directly, but there is no reason they cannot find out whether the product is available.

Some pharmaceutical companies/manufacturers have been extremely helpful to members who have contacted them.

The company name is not always the same as the brand name. You can find the company name on the packaging (though in smaller letters and possibly on the back or bottom) and at the bottom of the Patient Information Leaflet. For example, Mercury Pharma is a brand name but the company is Advanz.

Contact details for most, possibly all, UK pharmaceutical companies/manufacturers can be found here:

Or the British National Formulary's list:

I have only just seen your post, and have just posted about Morningside T3. My hospital pharmacy said they couldn't get it because of supply issues and I rang Morningside directly and have been told there are no supply issues. They said to tell my pharmacy to ring their warehouse and them directly. I told my hospital pharmacy and they have got it for me yesterday
