I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid back in 2000, I have been on thyroxine since then , I developed fibromyalgia and now menopausal so feel like all these things cross over . I cold water swim which helps fibromyalgia .
3 months ago following routine TSH and free T4 test was told my TSH was too low think it was 0.2 I have never asked about if T3 is checked and have had never asked about other tests . My levothyroxine was reduced to 100 from 125 mcg , I am now feeling awful tired ,cold , brain fog much worse, hair dry but the check blood test they did after 2 months TSH 0.5 so was told to stay on it . I have done an econsult what should I ask for . Sorry for long post .

I am sorry you aren't feeling very well. If you also have fibromyalgia I shall give you a link from a Researcher/scientist/doctor (now deceased through an accident). He was also an Adviser to Thyroiduk before his early demise due to an accident.
When your next blood test is due get the earliest appointment (even if you have to book it weeks ahead). It is a fasting test but you can drink water. Also, don't take thyroid hormones before the test but take it afterwards. This will help to give you optimum .numbers.
If your GP hasn't tested B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate request these when your next blood test is due.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism about 25 years ago, I went to a private rheumatologist who did very thorough tests on me. I was also menopausal.I was put on thyroxine, starting on 50 mg, for a few years. My GP changed and I gradually went up to 100 mg, then 125 mg, then 150 mg. My T4 was up to about 22 and I was not feeling right, so I went to the GP and said I think I need to be reduced, he said I’ve got patients with higher T4 than you. I reduced myself to 125 mg felt a bit better but I was having palpitations, which I didn’t realise they were palpitations immediately.
One day my GP phoned me and said I think you’d better reduce your thyroxine or you’ll start with palpitations. What or who had prompted him to make that call I do not know. I said I was already having them, I had to have a 24 hour ECG, which showed I had AF. I had an echocardiogram and saw a cardiologist privately, whom I’m still seeing every 2 years but it was every year.
I also saw a private endocrinologist, obviously he said many things regarding hypothyroidism but he did say my TSH is likely to remain suppressed as I’d been on thyroxine for quite a long time and to make sure my T4 is tested not just my TSH. I had my T3 checked and that was OK.
I am now on 100 mg 4 times a week and 50 mg 3 times a week. I felt much better on 125 mg but the AF meant it had to be reduced.
My point is don’t overdo your thyroxine in case you go into AF.

Do you mean the lower dose of 100/50 alternate days improves your A-fib ?
or are they just saying you can't have 125mcg anymore because of your blood results?
You almost certainly didn’t need your levothyroxine reducing—many doctors seem to believe that the TSH result is the only one that matters—but when you’ve been hypothyroid a while, it sometimes follows that your TSH won’t rise very much, even when your body really wants some more thyroid hormone on board.
I would ask if your doctor would consider doing an FT3 and FT4 test alongside TSH—you need to know what those levels are. If they’re within range, you aren’t overmedicated, even if your TSH is below range.. I’ll wager now that your FT3 is low-ish in range, which will be why you’re feeling rough.
Alternatively, ask for your levothyroxine level to be put back up to 125mcg. Your doctor’s “experiment” with your health hasn’t worked.
Hi 08Dco , i'm past my best at this time of night , but in the meantime, if you click on this post and look at my reply to it (3rd reply down) healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... you will find a list of posts that will be useful.... on the subject of low TSH /Risk /Quality of life .
it's all stuff you will need to know about in order to get your GP to put your dose back up a bit .
Thank you that’s so helpful- I take a general multi vit and mineral quite sporadic. Always take thyroxine before bloods so will change that and sort private testing
Multivitamins never recommended on here…too little of what we need, most contain iodine not recommended if on replacement thyroid hormones, and usually cheap poorly
Always stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before blood test as biotin can falsely affect test results
Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
