Not a question regarding myself. My sister had some blood tests several years ago when experiencing a range of symptoms, including thyroid blood tests. One of her tests was for TPO antibodies. She was within the normal range, but had some TPO antibodies. Is this a reasonably normal thing, or is this a harbinger of future hypothyroidism? Within my extended family we have lots of Thyroid issues, my Grandmother was recently diagnosed, my mother has had it long term, and one of my mothers sisters have both been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.
Thanks.

Everyone has "some" antibodies, I don't think I've ever seen a result of zero antibodies. The important thing is what was the result and range and has the antibody test been repeated. Antibodies fluctuate and even if they are low or in range with one test they can be higher or over range another time. Once over range that confirms Hashimoto's regardless of whether they test lower another time.
