I started taking LDN last October for Hashimotos and Fibromyalgia and recurring pain. I also take Natural Dessicated Thyroid. After going up to 3 mg LDN I have unfeeling of food stuck in my throat after eating.

Sboop,

Welcome to our forum,

You are reaching the higher recommended doses of LDN, some prefer it lower. Although many find 3mg is favourable maybe you've overstepped your sweet spot. A feeling of fullness in the throat is often attributed to more thyroid gland activity and could be a Hashi attack. Do you take LDN at bedtime?

Yes at bedtime and I had up dosed to 4mg which made symptoms worse. Now I stopped LDN for 3 nights but not much relief. I will get my tests done next week. Thanks for your help. I suspect you are right and that i need to lower both LDN and thyroid meds.

Hi Sboop. Welcome. I am also on NDT ( Armour) 3 and 1/8 grain ( split in 3 doses per day) and LDN 1mg ( at bedtime). The LDN has helped with joint and arthritis pain, but I can’t raise it more as I get hyper symptoms and I don’t want to fiddle around with the Armour dose anymore as it’s taken me a year to stabilize again. I started with LDN 0.5mg and managed to raise after a few months to 1mg. I have read that usual dose can be up to 4.5mg. As Radd wrote, the throat symptoms could be due to a Hashis flare. Do you have any other symptoms?

What are your most recent fT3, fT4 and TSH results?

What about Vit D, ferritin, B12 and folate results?

Are you on a GF diet? My joint, muscle and digestive symptoms and inflammation in general really improved on GF diet ( I don’t have Coelics but am gluten intolerant) and also subsequently Dairy, Egg and Soy- free diet.

Thank you. Your situation sounds similar to mine. I take ERFA Thyroid (Canadian NDT) and have been stable for a few years on a split dose. I started taking LDN for fibromyalgia and perhaps should have stayed at 2 as I now think that is my sweet spot although I was still having flares. I am gluten free but still not on dairy, egg and soy free diet. I am gluten intolerance as well. Thanks so much for Your response.

Though I don't know much about LDN . But feeling stuck in the throat for me is a hypo symptom. You might need to raise your thyroid meds when on LDN to compensate. Best wishes.

I have taken Armour for many years and as of 2017, 4.5 mg of LDN. I have never felt that feeling in my throat in relation to the LDN. I do take breaks from it occasionally and re-titrate back up to my 4.5 mg dose. Thinking it’s either hypo symptoms or other reasons. Not sure it’s the LDN.
