Hi,

I have had the symptoms on and off for the last 3 years. First started and lasted few months then disappeared completely for 10 months, came back worse and lasted months again, then disappointed for almost 2 years. Then came back 10 months ago, worse than ever and is not disappearing this time.

Symptoms are hard to describe but basically feel like I have the flu coming on, I feel just so unwell in general and always have an intense unwell feeling in my throat. I don’t get fatigue, it’s not a mental thing it’s a physical feelings. Some days it is worse than others, some days it last a few hours, some days it last all days. And I have the odd day where it doesn’t come on at all.

I’m really struggling, I’m on a waiting list to see a Rheumatologist but it’s a long wait. I don’t know why but I have such a feeling it’s related to my thyroid mainly because of the feeling in my throat, it must be something hormone related, it’s the way it comes and goes.

Can thyroid symptoms come and disappear like mine did?

My doctors tell me my thyroid is fine, however they have only ever tested my TSH level, and someone on here said that’s not sufficient testing that alone.

Thank you so much

Well, it's certainly possible they are related to thyroid. But, then any symptom could be, because hypo symptoms are non-specific.

Yes, just testing TSH is totally inadequate because it isn't even a thyroid hormone. In your last post, SlowDragon gave a list of the essential tests to get the full picture. Without those other tests, hypothyroidism just can't be ruled out. :)

Yes, some days I can go for a 3km swim, others I struggle just to feed the animals. I'm having symptoms of all kinds at the moment, I believe all connected to my thyroid.

As you are vegetarian I am wondering how your B12 levels are ? Also Folate - Ferritin - VitD ? Low B12 symptoms are similar to low thyroid

It may be worth paying for a test private, and get your T3s n T4s checked, I see online you can do that.

You can have hypothyroidism that comes and then slowly resolves itself. If you're experiencing high amounts of stress for instance, but then later after the stressful event is gone, slowly return to "normal".
