Im currently on 100mg levo brand Mercury pharma. I've been given an increase of 12.5 but when I picked it up from the chemist it's teva. I'm a bit wary about mixing brands and I've also heard some bad things about teva. Is it possible for me to alternate with an extra 25mg i.e take 125mg one night then 100 the next? And does anyone know if Mercury pharma do a 12.5mg?
Thanks in advance

Hiya Diane17884 I am on Mercury Pharma and they do not make 12.5mcg. I have done what you suggest regarding alternate dosing and also used a pill cutter to cut 25mcg in half. Either way worked fine for me. I was having problems many years ago regarding being given whatever brand the chemist stocked at the time. When I mentioned this to a pharmacist in Boots he advised me to find the brand I was happy with and ask my GP to write it on my prescription and this is what my GP has done ever since.
The only UK levothyroxine available in 12.5 microgram tablets is Teva.
My experience is that I simply do not like alternate day dosing - I prefer the same every day. No doubt this is individual and I know many others are perfectly happy varying their doses.
I would certainly be happy to try a dose change such as you suggest with alternate day dosing - and only bothering to split if it seemed the right dose.
i was in the same situation and the Teva did not work for me. I was looking for 112mcg, so now I just take an extra 100mcg once a week and that gives me 114mcg. Seems to work fine.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll just do the alternate dosing then and hope it works out well. Thanks helvella my mistake regarding mcg and mg. I'll try remember in future (brain fog permitting) haha
