Hi all - has anyone had experience of the pneumonia jab and if so - any side effects that want to share?

I had the pneumonia jab when I was first diagnosed with lung disease back in 2013. I had no side effects at all but do remember that everyone one is different, for example some people have no side effects from the flu jab but others do, same with Covid jab.

By the way, it didn't stop me getting pneumonia!

Thank you SeasideSusie for your reply.I wonder if the pneumonia jab is similar to the flu jab in that the clever clogs work on last year's flu germs and tweak it a bit for the following year. I didn't have good reaction to the flu or covid jabs thus my request for other people's experiences, Hope you weren't too poorly with the pneumonia.

When you consider that there is bacterial pneumonia (caused by pneumococcal infections) and viral pneumonia, like flu it's not a one size fits all. Unless things have changed the pneumonia jab protects against pneumococcal infections so although you may get some protection for bacterial pneumonia it wont protect you against viral pneumonia.

Unfortunately I had pneumonia and pleurisy at the same time, wasn't much fun!

I have it regularly, not usually too many side effects but the last time I had it my arm really ached and I could barely lift it, it was in my right arm too and I am right handed. Next time I will have it in my left arm, just in case. I did end up getting pneumonia a couple months ago and was quite poorly, but no doubt without the pnuemovax I would have been a damn sight worse.

I had the pneumococcal vaccine last year (coeliac dx), and had no reaction at all.

"People aged 65 and over only need a single pneumococcal vaccination. This vaccine is not given annually like the flu jab.

If you have a long-term health condition you may only need a single, one-off pneumococcal vaccination, or a vaccination every 5 years, depending on your underlying health problem."

Hi all - well I was a big brave girl and went for the p jab - all good - no reactions apart from a slight headache and a sore arm - felt as though I had been punched but nothing else. Very relieved as I suffered after the covid and flu jabs. So thanks everyone for your input. I had the p 23 vaccine ???
