Overdose consequences

I am in the midst of a stressful house move and am exhausted. As a result, I woke 11/2 hours after going to sleep and took my 100 mic of levothyroxine, realised what time it was and went back to sleep. Four hours later I woke up and took my levothyroxine as normal, it wasn’t until I had extreme anxiety, racing heart etc that I realised what I’d done. Will I be okay and should I stop taking it for a few days?

Stupid stupid woman and I’m going to the doctor tomorrow to check my ferritin.

Don't worry as we can take one week's dose. Excerpt

Conclusion

Once-weekly LT4 administration is a reasonable alternative for patients, especially for those who have issues with compliance.

You will be fine. Levo is the thyroid hormone T4, basically a storage hormone that doesn't do much until it is converted into the active hormone, T3. And, that won't happen for a couple of weeks.

I wouldn't stop for a few days, if I were you. You only took one extra dose. Just miss tomorrow's dose, and carry on as usual the day after. It happens to all of us at some point or other, and we've all survived! lol So, don't beat yourself up about it. :)

Hi Pastelart. You’re not stupid, just human! Just a suggestion: I also take my Levo in the middle of the night but when I go to bed I pop it out of its plastic strip and put it in a little pot beside the bed. I think (🤞) I would probably notice if it wasn’t in its pot, and maybe realise I’d already had it.

You take yours at night? I was told to take mine before I eat on an empty stomach in the morning. I also have taken 2 by mistake . I'm on 125mc I think its mc??. And I have gone a day without by forgetting too! I can't tell the difference when I do or don't . But I never go more than a day without. I need to get more organized and put my meds in a daily weekly pill dispenser!
