I have been trying to cure my earache myself the last 4 days but today it’s worse I’ve rang my Surgury but as yet they haven’t got back to me wether I can see a Dr or not. My ear feels full, and today the pain goes into my jaw and neck it’s painful when I swallow As well. 2 years ago I saw a specialist at ent but he couldn’t find anything wrong even with an mri scan he did say avoid getting water in my ears and advice ear plugs when in shower. I had xrays at my dentist a few weeks ago and got the all clear so I know it’s not a dental problem. Is it thyroid related? Is there a home treatment you could advise please? It’s really getting me down being in so much pain and the dr not rang me back I’m not sure what to do so came here reaching out for help please Asking if someone can advise me what to do thank you for reading this

It sounds like otitis media. I worked in ENT. I also have M E / CFS, have had 50yrs, and no thyroid.

Tell the GP you have an ear infection.

If there’s a decent practice nurse get antibiotics from her.

The dentist could also prescribe but can’t look in ear.

I find I’m over sensitive / intolerant of many antibiotics so use homeopathy. I good homeopath with these types of symptoms long term, I have found very helpful.

I hope you get a solution very soon as earache is very miserable.

PS I also have IBS so know how over sensitive and intolerant the gut becomes - hence my use of homeopathy. Bella

You have an ear infection, and need treatment. Ring the surgery again and DEMAND help. I have always had ear infections since a child, and know how painful they can be. A hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and held to the ear is a help, and an ordinary painkiller will take the edge off, but you need an antibiotic. Before Covid, I always had to have the GP look in my ear to get a prescription - now I just get given the prescription without seeing the GP.

Thank you for your reply I rang the Surgury again and managed a face to face with a Dr at 6pm he gave me a prescription for antibiotics thank you for your kind and helpful reply I’m applying heat like you said. He’s given me 7 days of antibiotics said ring again if no improvement after they finish x
