Advice on medication please

My recent bone scan shows osteoporosis in my spine and my GP wants me to begin medication for this. I have Hashis and currently take 75 levothyroxine first thing every morning.

I believe that the osteoporosis weekly drug also needs to be taken early morning with a gap before eating, but shouldn't be taken at the same time as levo. I asked my GP but he didn't really have an answer to this.

What is the solution? I expect some others are in this situation. Any advice on this and also the pros and cons of taking the drug (sorry I'm not sure of the name) would be really helpful. I'm female and aged 62.

Many members take levothyroxine at bedtime. Often more convenient….may be more effective

verywellhealth.com/best-tim...

No other medication or supplements at same as Levothyroxine, leave at least 2 hour gap.

Some like iron, calcium, magnesium, HRT, omeprazole or vitamin D should be four hours away

(Time gap doesn't apply to Vitamin D mouth spray)

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

REMEMBER.....very important....stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before ALL BLOOD TESTS as biotin can falsely affect test results - eg vitamin B complex

Osteoporosis can be linked to LOW Ft3 thyroidpatients.ca/2018/07/...

Previous post shows you have Hashimoto’s and poor conversion of Ft4 to ft3

Your hoping to get T3 prescribed

Improving low Ft3 may help improve bone health

Do you currently take magnesium supplements

Thanks for this. Yes I do take magnesium citrate in the evening. I have never tried taking levo at bedtime so will consider that though I'm a bit reluctant to change the usual pattern. I had wondered about missing out levo one day a week and adjusting the amounts on the other 6 days to give the same weekly total but it is a bit complicated! Your idea is perhaps the solution.

Move magnesium supplement to 4 hours minimum before levothyroxine at bedtime
