Sourcing T3 medication

I currently have a private prescription for T3 medication, which gives me the access I need. It is however, quite expensive - costing the best part of £150 per month.

Are there any alternative ways of obtaining trustworthy T3 medication at a lower cost?

Thanks!

How much T3 are you currently taking

Private prescription that specifies Thybon Henning 20mcg liothyronine

enables access to T3 20mcg tablets at 50p each - £50 per 100 tablets via specialist Uk pharmacies

UK licensed T3 is more expensive at £72 per 28 tablets 20mcg

If it's not already written this way, ask your doctor to put on your prescription

Thybon Henning liothyronine 20mcg x 100 tablets

(or multiples of 100)

and then use

Roseway Labs

Chemist4U

Smartway Pharma

who all charge £50 for 100 tablets which is the cheapest you will get on prescription.

Thybon Henning is a German make. Thybon - brand; Henning - company. Nowadays, Henning is a part of Sanofi Deutschland - part of the greater Sanofi group.

Information on many makes available here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

Thanks for the responses guys. At the moment I’m taking 5mcg tablets. I assume the 20mcg ones aren’t slow release or anything and I’d need to cut the tablets? Is that correct?

Thanks!

No - Thybon Henning is not slow or delayed release.

To maintain the same dosing, yes, you would need to split the tablets.

They cut easily with sharp craft scalpel or pill cutter

Roseway labs pharmacy does 5mg for £1 each if you’re not mad about the prospect of cutting the 20mg ones up

I think you mean micrograms (mcg) rather than milligrams (mg).

Which manufacturer's tablets are they able to supply?

And very, very expensive. For 20 micrograms, that is £4. Whereas a single 20 microgram tablet of Thybon Henning is 50p. Eight times the price per microgram.

If you simply cannot manage to cut them, maybe you have to pay up.
