normal TSH, low Ft4

is that possible? my doctor wants to recheck my labs. I stopped my meds and my t4 completely tanked and my tsh rose, but not significantly. I think from 2.25 to 3.00.

My t4 was super low, less than .10 I think it said? I'm going off memory. Doctor said he wants to retest as I don't feel bad symptom wise, but he said with a lab like that I should feel miserable.

we are redoing my labs but does this signify anything? I also had a "plethora of antibodies." which means I do have Hashimotos.

Any advice is appreciated!

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis. Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

In U.K. medics never call it Hashimoto’s, just autoimmune thyroid disease

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

IBS is often linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.

Gluten intolerance is often a hidden issue too. Request coeliac blood test BEFORE considering trial on strictly gluten free diet

Low GFR also linked to low thyroid levels

Fairly common with Hashimoto’s for TSH to be sluggish in responding

With Hashimoto’s Levels change so much, that TSH gives up responding…..so it’s like central hypothyroidism
