Hi; my antibodies are quite high, and my doctor has told me that’s to be expected. Is that correct? Apart from being offered anti depressants- I’m getting no help,
I am hypothyroid but wonder if I have hashimotos?

High thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease …..however NHS only recognises high TG antibodies as autoimmune thyroid disease if TPO antibodies are also high
Have you had TPO antibodies tested
Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies
What are TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 results
Always test thyroid levels as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water
Also need to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
I’ve had everything tested privately but couldn’t upload more than 1 pic. I will try to upload full results now.
Thank you so much for your response. It’s like banging my head up against a brick wall with the doctor.
High TPO and TGAB (over 35 I think) are confirmation of Hashimoto. I was told this by a functional doctor. My own GP just shrugged and said there is no point in worrying about it as there is nothing that can be done and eventually they would give me Eltroxin (T4). I decided that made no sense and went to a functional doctor and then an endocrinologist. I am now on Eltroxin and Thybon. Still have not got there with the levels of T3 and T4 being in range but it's a journey. This site will keep you right but there is no magic cure. Trial and error and being prepared to look after yourself.
So are you currently taking any levothyroxine?
If yes…..how much
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
So your TPO antibodies are within range
Essential to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)
Low vitamin levels common as we get older too
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
