Well - went to See GP at 3 pm She said my thyroid with range TSH 2.8 is bang in middle - said range up to 3 something and that don’t need to test for t4 . Then she decided I needed to go to hospital to check my heart - rule out that I’m having a heart attack . Had one round of bloods - they have done thyroids too , had an ex ray , ecg etc Retesting something to do with heart as it’s borderline - if it comes back ok - I can go home it’s 1.10pm I’m still got pain in right side
Cardio docs parting shot was I need to lose weight - me well yes I’ve tried but I’m not sure my thyroid meds are correct 🤷🏻♀️ He said must make more effort , more exercise but only if my cardio blood tests come back ok 🙄and that the Thyroid tests done at hospital today will be sent to GP next day or so
WTH is this madness - why don’t they seem to know about thyroid ???
Least I’m in a cardio / respiratory place and not A n E

Doctors may think that having a TSH in the middle of the range is wonderful, but it isn't. Healthy people with no known thyroid disease don't have a mid-range TSH. The distribution for the healthy is highly skewed with a large majority of people having TSH which is lower than mid-range.
See this graph, work out where your result would be on it, and read the blurb on the page as well :
People with thyroid disease who take thyroid hormones in any form usually end up needing a TSH lower than that of healthy people in order to feel well. But most doctors think we're all going to drop dead if we have a TSH which is low in range or below range so they insist on keeping us under-medicated if they can.
