Mercury Pharma 20mcg T3 tablets-expiry 02/22. Getting palpitations

I have nearly finished this pot of Mercury Pharma 20mcg T3 tablets, expiry date Feb 2022. I've been getting palpitations which I haven't had for a long time. Wondering if this lot is sub-standard.

What dose are you taking daily? Do you take one dose daily or split the dose? Did the palpitations start when you began to take this 'pot'?

You could trial taking one anti-histamine tablet one hour before your next dose and if you have no reactions, then (and I'm not medically qualified) you might need to change to another pharma company.

I take 45mcg of only T3, so 40mcg of Mercury Pharma and 5mcg of Morningside. I take them altogether in the morning before food. I have always felt better on Mexican Cynomel but the hospital pharmacy insist on giving me the Mercury Pharma and Morningside. The palpitations did seem to start about half way through this pot of Mercury Pharma

Youre doing the right thing and in the UK it seems we cannot trial options of whatever T4 or T3 or combinations that may help us to feel better.

These are a couple of excerpts from Dr John Lowe (deceased) who was an Adviser to Thyroiduk.org.uk before his accidental death.

"He is also an active critical analyst. This means that he logically analyzes his own thinking and beliefs and those of others to learn whether or not these are accurate and rational. In recent years, drug and medical device corporations have largely co-opted medical research, the medical profession and its institutions, medical practice guidelines committees, and the US Congress. These corporations have essentially turned all of these groups, to varying degrees, into marketing tools for the products of the corporations. This phenomenon is the basis of the statement that the major motive behind science today is economics rather than curiosity and problem solving. We do know of the BTA's stance and, it seems to me, rather than improving patients' health by assisting them to remove their disabling symptoms, have removed NDTs (the very first original replacement that contains all of the hormones a healthy gland would do). They also removed T3 (the Active hormone that runs our who body from head to toe (brain and heart have the most T3 receptor cells) but then restored it only if an Endocrinologist agrees but many don't and the suffering continues. Why did they choose Endocrinology when they cannot restore their patients health and remove symptoms and treat patients by 'numbers alone'?

They have to follow their 'guidelines' whether they want to or not.

I believe the Endocrinologists may not prescribe as they are also under pressure to keep costs down. It also causes stress/strain and unnecessary appointments if only they could prescribe what they think would improve/removethe patients' clinical symptoms.

5mcg of T3 is extremely small addition.

I have been having palpitations and now on tablets for both them and high bp, I had my vaccine booster and the palpitations started 4 days later so I presumed it was the vaccine. I though am taking the same batch of T3 as you.

I have had four tubs of this batch of T3 Mercury Pharma sitting in the cupboard for a few months. I must have read something on here as I had marked all four boxes with "might be dodgy". I don't know whether to ditch them but I get my T3 from the hospital pharmacy and I'm sure it would be difficult to convince them to replace.

I have only just seen your post, & Yes, unfortunately I had problems with this MP T3 Batch: 86862 02 2022 - see my Post from 6 months ago headed: Mercury Pharma Liothyronine T3 Batch: BN: 86862 EXP: 02 2022 – possible issues? (Don't know how to link to earlier post).

I'm sorry that you're having problems, although I'm somewhat relieved that it isn't just me. There was also at least one other member who had problems back then too - actually, I've just checked & it was Muffy , who has also commented below.

I had different problems rather than palpitations - I felt like I was going to fall over all the time & concluded that the 86862 02 2022 Batch was somehow 'weaker', or just didn't work for me. See my earlier post for all the details.

[I did have severe palpitations when swapped to Morningside, although that's a separate story.]

Interestingly, although mine has the same Batch No. & Expiry, and the (01) number as your photo', my boxes have a different (21) no. - I have no idea whether that's significant or not.

I'm glad to see that you raised a Yellow Card for this.

You're correct, pharmacies rarely, if ever, replace prescriptions, even if the batch/brand of medication issued is causing problems. You would need to get your prescribing doctor to issue a new Prescription, & then the Pharmacy can hopefully get different stock.

Pharmacies tend to be beholden to their wholesalers, & in my case the wholesalers were extremely unhelpful & claimed that they couldn't get another batch. In the end I had to contact Mercury Pharma / Advanz directly (telephone Medicines Management), where I reported the issue, & eventually after a lot of effort on my part, Advanz supplied a different Batch directly to my Pharmacy, under the new Prescription.

As your post is from 2 months ago, please will you let me know how/if you resolved this so that I can provide more details of what I had to do if needed.

I did put in a Yellow Card for this batch of Mercury Pharma T3. I had a reply from MP asking for a sample, so I sent one tablet. After about a week they replied saying they needed more tablets as sample. I really couldn't be bothered! So I carried on taking them as I had so many pots and they cost the NHS so much money. My symptoms subsided; so I'm thinking my palpitations were caused by something else, perhaps low B12.

Just found this post. My t3 has dropped from 6 to 4.5 with resultant feeling dreadful. I put it down to increased excersize but maybe less potent. I’ll yellow card too.

My t3 has dropped too. And I have more palpitations than usual. I am taking them past the expiry date though… but that doesn’t usually cause a problem

The yellow card came back as no issues. My tsh was 1.94 in june so upped my dose and it had dropped 3 weeks later so dropping back to 10mcg again and hoping the newer batch is better which it seems to be. It’s very strange but luckily I can test often so pick it up quickly.

Hi Update on yellow card I did for this batch after seeing your post last week. MP called me from the states to find out symptoms etc. I’ve had email to ask to send tabs to them so will send those tomorrow. They want 12 tablets. I’ll try to keep you updated. X
