I'm supplementing,

vit D3 with K2, tablets

Magnesium capsules. Also taking levothyroxine 100mcg.

Id like to add selenium, but am not sure which brand is best, I'd be very grateful for any advice regarding which one is best. ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ

For selenium you need either selenium l-selenomethionine or a yeast bound selenium, these are the two most absorbable forms. Avoid selenite or selenate forms.

When I was taking selenium I used this one from Cytoplan:

cytoplan.co.uk/selenium

They often have 3 for 2.

A lot of selenium supplements have an unpleasant smell, the Cytoplan one is a very small tablet and there is no odour with it.

Thank you, I'll try those after my blood test, I want to see if I'm supplementing vit d OK first. Fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

Thanks for this info SeasideSusie, I hate the odour of the selenium I used to take and it used to make me smell the same, horrible and embarrassing, so I gave up taking it. Now I can try your recommended Cytoplan.

Or you could look at Brazil nuts but the packaging needs to say that they're grown in selenium rich soil and preferably have the amount of selenium listed. Members have sent me the following information about Brazil nuts which give this information and should be fairly easily available in the UK:

Apparently Sainsburys SO organic brazil nuts contain 50mcg selenium per 30g serving of nuts

sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/pro...

and their Fairtrade ones have 75mcg selenium per 30g serving

sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/pro...

One member has said that M&S Natural Brazil Nuts say "harvested by hand in the Amazon forest and naturally high in selenium".

Also, check out Aldi's "The Foodie Market" Brazil nuts, the packaging is said to show selenium content as 79mcg per 30g serving.

Another one is 'My Garden of Eden' Brazil nuts from Home Bargains.. They say "High in Selenium and high in vitamin E" on the front of the packet and the Nutritional Information says "one serving (25g) gives 63ug of Selenium".

Thank-you very much SeasideSusie, that reminds me that before starting on T3 I used to have a passion for Brazil nuts, which makes sense.
