Results obstructed again

Ive requested copies of my bloods results from my endo and for the third time they are of no use, as ranges not invluded, to add to this endo has requested me to reduce levo. Currently, im taking, 75mcg/100mcg alternate days. I also take t3, 3 split doses of 5mcg.I feel improved, but not quite as id like, usually worn out by afternoon.

My query is which is the best privately sourced thyroid test? 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

I'm not sure that there's a 'best test' as such. Depends what your criteria are.

Do you want a blood draw as opposed to finger prick test?

Is cost a huge issue?

Cheapest would be Monitor My Health. Other popular companies are Medichecks & Blue Horizon.

Email endocrinologist secretary and remind them you are legally entitled to copies of results with ranges

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

On T3 - day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day with last dose 8-12 hours before test

I too have an endo who promises me a copy of my full test results and then just puts the values into an email without ranges, but I found a quick, friendly phone call to his secretary far more effective at getting the results with the full ranges. She was as good as her word, sent them out straight away and I got them within a couple of days. 🙂

If it was an NHS Endo then your GP will have a copy of the bloods?

That is the weird thing, Endo's result don't get added to your GP's NHS record there is a two tier system.... worth requesting from GP as if you get the right person they can pull them up off the other system, though they are a bit cagey about it

Yes I've found this myself. GP said they didn't have access to hospital clinic tests and to go via endo clinic secretary. But secretary very unhelpful as said you need to speak to GP and so it goes on!

I've requested my results a few times from the clinic secretary but get fobbed off and polite emails ignored.

You tend to give up when feeling unwell and focus energy on less draining activities but can't help wondering are they hiding something? 🤔

It was very frustrating. If I get another NHS appointment I'll ask who I see directly for all my results.

I found one of the blood test nurses was happy to find them and print them off for me, when the receptionist didn't know how to access them

Is there no Endo letter on your GP's file? Shows as an attachment next to Clinic Letter

Nothing like that at all. My surgery uses the Patient Access app and only has GP test results there. No clinic letters. I'm on the waiting list for a 2nd post surgery appointment with endo clinic so I'll ask then.

Ah, I access through SystmOnline via my laptop I don't think they show up on the app

Strange, I’ve recently had bloods requested by a Rheumatologist. I had the results on Patient Knows Best and GP has them too. Oh, well worth asking 🙂

It seems to be an Endo thing as it's just the Endo letter on record with results but no ranges given and this usually takes a month to appear

That's one of the few things good about France. Blood tests in the morning and the full results with ranges by the same afternoon by email. A copy goes to the GP too.

It’s the same here in South Wales.
