Hi folks
Contacted my doctor earlier today and sent a copy of my latest blood test results through Askmygp. Here is the reply
Hi William thanks for getting in touch. Can I ask as to why these private tests were done? The positive TPO antibodies indicate that the likely reason for your thyroid issues are autoimmune. There is no clinical benefit for rechecking or monitoring TPO levels once they are found to be raised. Your T3 and T4 levels are within the normal range which would not suggest that you would benefit from t3 or changing your levothryoxine dose. As these are hormones some variation within the range is normal and expected.
Cortisol is also a hormone that fluctuates throughout the day and a one off reading does not necessarily indicate the presence of disease. I see that you had another private test with a normal level 6 months ago. Getting another early morning sample done in the practice would be reasonable. If elevated any further testing wouldbe done by endocrinology at clinic - I see you were referred to them several months ago- unfortunately all parts of the healthcare system are under huge strain at present which has affected waiting times across the board.
The TPO antibodies were only discovered through a private blood tests.Stumped for a reply to all that, but, actually quite glad he actually replied by email as requested
So now I’m looking to source T3 medication. Can anyone advise me please?
