Can change in exercise sap vitamins

Hi All,

I have just completed a mega walk (for me) 100 miles in 8 days, some with lots of craggy climbs and descents. Will this have any effect on my thyroxine and vitamin levels. I did forgot to pack my vitamins (D, B12 & few others recommended) but did take my levo every day. Added a picture because scenery was so beautiful.

Congratulations on such an achievement

A month ago you put dose Levothyroxine back up to 75mcg

Did you finally get GP to agree increase in dose

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in Levothyroxine

Hi,

yes finally received a letter from my GP agreeing to put Levo back up to 75mg just before going away. I have not received same medication twice in a row yet. The pharmacist here is dreadful (understatement) I have now changed so I have to drive out to pick up my

prescription. I will get my bloods done again at least 6 weeks after this change. I am back on the Teva 75mg. That seems to suit me better.

Just a bit worried about my B12 and D levels. I have had issues inthe past with donating blood after 20 mile walks as mine (and hubby's) iron levels dropped. Nurse said it was due to the walking.

So have you considered that you might be lactose intolerant if Teva brand suits you better

Important to test vitamin D twice year when supplementing

Test folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

It could just be that the Teva suits me better because it was 75mg. But I noticed within a few days my energy levels were great until about 1pm, then dropped off rapidly. I have been too busy then away walking to register if it is still the same. This did not happen on the 50mg of the other two brands, not even when I uppedthe dose to 75mg.

I have never been tested for a lactose intolerance. I want to see what effect a year of being gluten free is before giving up cheese! My celiac test was negative, which is good and this time I did eat wheat daily for 6 weeks prior to the test.

I did accidentlally eat gluten while away. I bought some crisps and did not think to check them. This is somewhat annoying because I was doing so well. Within 48hrs I had a mouth full of sores, but I also forgot to take my vit B12 with me. So will have to wait and see what happens.

I intend to get all my relavent vitamin and thyroid levels checked every 2 months until I see them at optimal levels, then check once or twice a year to maintain them. I have every intention of getting myself as healthy as I can.

Good for you! I'm curious about the effect of something like this on thyroid hormone levels. Did you notice a difference in your energy level? (beyond expected fatigue from that type of exertion?)

I don't see a picture attached, but I hope your walk was some place beautiful.

Shame the photo didn't upload. It was just a shot of Hadrian's wall as it wends it's way over crags in Cumbria or Northumberland. I was, am, very tired, but that has been an ongoing issue for approximately 20 years. 15 miles daily is definitely my limit. The 7 mile day was very welcome.

It sounds wonderful. Hopefully you've had a chance to rest and recover.

It would be interesting to know how that kind of exertion affects hormone and vitamin levels and how long it lasts.
