Has T3 gotten cheaper?

jsy_girl profile image

I just got a prescription fulfilled by Roseway labs. It cost me £100 for 200 tablets when previously there same order cost £200.

Is this a mistake or has the price genuinely come down? Is it the CMA fine or something else driving it?

They have price matched Chemist4U when it was pointed out to them that they are charging the equivalent of 50p per tablet. Good news for you 😊

Wow that’s amazing. Good for Chemist 4 U and good for Roseway for price matching. This makes a huge difference. I was worried they were gonna realise a mistake an invoice me the rest 🤣🤣

Indeed, let’s hope they continue to ‘battle’ for our business and we can access competitively priced life saving treatment 🤗

It used to be 30p a tablet when we could import it direct from Germany so they are still making a very good profit at 50p.

Yes that is true. I never bought any then so I have only ever known the £1 tablet price. Hopefully Chemist 4 U or another pharmacy will drive it down more

Well, not a huge profit. They are now having to pay import costs and shipping has increased in price too. There were no import costs before Brexit.

I'm not sure how that works as medicines are made all over the world and Thybon will be imported wholesale rather than retail. Bear in mind that a proportion of all our licenced medicines are imported from EU and these have not gone up in price. At 30p a tablet the retailer will be making a fair profit so 50p gives a 67% markup.

No point complaning though as I'm grateful to get Thybon for 50p as I find it better than other brands. I take one and a half tablets daily so 75p a day is much better value than a newspaper. Shame the NHS doesn't think the same way.

Shipping costs, as in transworld shipping, has certainly risen a lot. But the cost of, say, a pallet on a lorry from Germany won't be that much different. After all, there are large retail outfits still selling products from EU countries with reasonable costs of P&P.

I'm afraid that will change for the worst when we finally stop messing about and apply the full customs checks, import charges and quotas to goods incoming the UK. We haven't finished yet. This is only a halfway house as it were. Those cheaper imports will vanish, just like my EU customers have done.

Hi can I ask how your prescription needs to read ? Ie Thybon Hennig x 100 Liothyronine? As I’m speaking to my GP tomorrow the ones I used to send to Germany said Liothyronine X100, TIA

Hi, I don't take much notice, I just post them down. But it has to say Thybon Henning on it and it has to stipulate the strength (20mcg) and the number of tablets. My Endo writes the dose per day and then x 6 months. But you could equally ask for dose per day and put the number of tablets total on the script. The script I get is literally a piece of headed paper with the Endo's company details on it and his handwritten notes about quantity and his signature.

The first time I sent one they asked me to email a copy first to make sure it was OK. Once they cleared that I just posted it to them. Now I ring them to tell them it's coming and pop it in the post. They are very helpful and very efficient.
