Here we go again! Stopped taking vitamin B complex one week before test as advised on forum but Medichecks saying no vitamin B12 should be taken for 2 weeks before test unless being prescribed by doctor in which case they would take this into account. Any comments most welcome please.
Medichecks saying no B12 to be taken for 2 week... - Thyroid UK
Medichecks saying no B12 to be taken for 2 weeks before Advanced Thyroid Function test?

I have never understood this and what leaving it off for 2 weeks is supposed to achieve.
When supplementing, if we want a baseline level of B12 to see what we are holding on to we leave off B12 supplements for 4-5 months.
If we continue taking B12 then the result will show what effect that dose has on our level, if it's too high or too low then adjust the dose.
Thanks so much Susie as always - I actually had been taking vit B12 by itself for years on Dr's recommendation and only stopped taking it in March when I read on the forum about supplementing with vit B complex instead so not sure what that really means for me. Looks like everything I have been tested for in the past has been skewed in some way so not surprising I've ended up in a mess - lol! Just an idea, but perhaps you might think about writing a document for Thyroid UK on vitamin supplements and when they should be taken etc. with regard to tests as you must spend so much of your valuable time answering all these questions.
