quercetin and thyroid function

hello. i read somewhere that quercetin can inhibit thyroid function, anyone know if this is right? i have been taking it as an antiviral and senolytic.

if so i wonder if there is a list anywhere of supplements to be avoided? I gather alpha lipoic acid is one (i also took that), and someone said fisetin, all things that have been lauded by the biohacking anti-ageing brigade.

thanks

All you need to do is type quercitin and thyroid into Google search and you will find articles.

lauriegraham,

It depends on the amounts you are taking.

Studies on larger amounts have isolated one mechanism and not taken into account the benefits on others, so giving misleading reports. Small amounts of both ALA & quercetin are advocated for use in Hashi sufferers by Datis Kharrazian & Isabella Wentz when mixed in other combos.

You could use drugs.com for specific ones you're considering. Quercetin seems OK with no adverse comments re thyroid drugs.com/npc/quercetin.html

I recently had experienced with L-Carnitine after a few days I was having hypo symptoms. I too would love a list of avoid nutrients that are not conducive for thyroid med dependent patients.

Your so very welcome. In fact I looked up about L-Carnitine and found that it is used for hyperthyroidism.
