For best absorption it's recommended to use selenium L-selenomethionine or a yeast bound selenium. It's recommended to avoid selenite and selenate forms, they are poorly absorbed.

From personal experience, selenium supplements can have an unpleasant smell. I used Cytoplan, it is a nice small tablet and there is no odour. It comes as a 100mcg dose tablet which is the amount said to be safe to take for most people. Some people prefer to test first.
