Does Accord have different fillers to Actavis?

I have used Nature Throid for years as I have Autoimmune Thyroiditis - but it has been withdrawn. Armour is scarily expensive. I asked my GP to prescribe Levothyroxine for me. Used to use Actavis - I see this company has been bought out and is now Accord. Went to Boots to get my prescription and it was Accord which I see some site members have had problems with. Does anyone know if the fillers used in Accord are different to Actavis?

If you look to the right of your post (on a PC, may be further down on another device) you will see "Related Posts" where this has been discussed before.

If you ask Accord then it seems they say that nothing has changed.

It's worth noting that before the change of name, a few members were complaining about certain batches of Actavis - both 50mcg and 100mcg - causing them problems. I took these batches out of my "stash" (I get more on prescription than I actually take so I have built up a bit of a stash). I still have these boxes of Actavis and I've just checked the patient information leaflets of both Actavis and Accord. Both list the ingredients as being absolutely identical, nothing has changed. That doesn't mean to say that they haven't changed the amounts of the excipients nor where they source them from, it's possible that any changes there could cause problems for some sensitive people.

For both Actavis and Accord:

The active ingredient is listed as anhydrous levothyroxine sodium.

The other ingredients are listed as lactose, magnesium stearate, maize starch, stearic acid and pregelatinised maize starch.

However, some members have not got on with Accord since it changed from Actavis.

I've taken Actavis for donkeys years, and the rebranded Accord for the last couple of years, personally I have found no difference. I think it's possible that some people are more sensitive to the slightest change and if there is a difference then they have reacted to it.

I suggest you try it. Just because some members haven't got on with it doesn't mean that you wont. The number of members who have seen a difference seems to be very small compared with the number who take Accord and are fine with it.
