£150 approx for private scan
The same thing happened to me a few months ago for a new neck lump separate to my existing large nodule.
Apparently the hospital have considerably tightened the criteria and decline many more referral.
In the end I had an additional ENT consult before the scan. Im grateful the GP was so determined.
If you can have a referral to endocrinology or ENT interdepartmental requests don’t get refused.
They are tightening up on all testing to "save money". I suppose it will in the short term but as people get increasingly ill because no one has bothered to find out what is wrong, then it will cost more in the long term. They know this, and are forcing people to "go private". When the levels of people are high enough who are paying for treatment, they will say this is the way forward....the people have chosen...
Meanwhile the heads of the Trusts get a pay rise.
