After 16 years on thyroxine,I was prescribed T3 to add to my thyroxine,my main symptom being fatigue.I then spent 2 years on T3-only,after ongoing issues with tachycardia when mixing T4 & T3.
Then had 4 good years on 2 grains of NDT,but fatigue came back last winter.Had Medichecks full blood check & all looked good apart from vitD so been supplementing since January.
I have previously tried upping my NDT & also tried adding some thyroxine to NDT. I don't seem to tolerate too much T4.(tachycardia)I have the D1O2 gene variant from both parents.
Added 1/4 tablet of T3 to my 2 grains NDT for 2 weeks, now upped it to 1/2 tablet.
Tinnitus has returned at this dose, but I can live with this if it helps my chronic fatigue.
Would love to hear from those using T3 with NDT successfully.

Have always had tinnitus - both off and on thyroid medication, T3, T4 you name it. Sometimes it’s better sometimes it’s worse. I too am interested in hearing if anything works to really help tinnitus go away.
I’ve heard and tried all of the B vitamins stuff it doesn’t help me personally sometimes it makes it worse. I don’t have a D102 gene variant I do have the MTFHR Genetic polymorphism.
You don’t say what age you are but it took me about 18 months to get my T3 spot on.
Then I noticed my symptoms fluctuating and kept testing, tweaking, testing again.
I stopped changing the T3 and just monitored it and can now see (a year on but for many months now) that it’s cyclical.
I’ll feel amazing toward the end of my cycle, still amazing and I’m oh less energy for about the first 10 days to two weeks and then I begin to fatigue toward the end again.
Aaaannnddd, repeat!
Very tempted to go ask about HRT etc because I’m very reliant on progesterone cream. I tried stopping that and obviously once my pg levels dropped, my thyroid levels went through the floor too. Once I went back on the cream I was fine again, though I’ve recently had to increase the dose.
I’d be straight down the gp to ask but I can’t really be bothered having the “my hormones affect my thyroid uptake - no they don’t” conversation.
Maybe an idea to get your hormone levels checked - if indeed any of this is relevant!
I am 71.I started this journey away from thyroxine monotherapy in 2013,having spent 16 years on it.I have used LDN for 6 years & progesterone cream on & off(on at the moment)for many years.I am oestrogen dominant & still have large fibroids,so the progesterone cream helps counterbalance this.A hormone balance test a couple of years ago showed my tissues were saturated with progesterone,so I go easier on that now.I will monitor my pulse, temperature & blood pressure, but otherwise, try to stay stable on a T3 dose of 12.5 or back down to a quarter tablet if I need to.
