Great pharmacist

I’m on a trial of Levothyroxine and was given the Teva brand. I have been experiencing bouts of energy followed by a total crash. I have never had such extreme tiredness. I wonder if this is a side effect of the Teva.

The good news is that after pointing out the mannitol problem to the pharmacist, she has ordered a different brand for me and has noted that I’m never to be given Teva again. I’m so grateful to her, as I was dreading having to explain the whole thing to my doctor.

On a different subject; I have had an eye infection for at least a month. The pharmacist gave my some eye drops that didn’t work. So I asked the doctor if she could take a look. She refused me a face to face appointment and prescribed really nasty, strong antibiotics eye drops which made me worse. Two weeks on I spoke to another doctor yesterday and asked him to look at my eye and in my ear as I had earache as well. He refused and gave me yer another antibiotic for eye and ear.

I’m getting really concerned about this latest practice and fear that there will be a tsunami of serious conditions not picked up.

I encourage you to make a Yellow Card report to the MHRA about any medicine issue you experience - or even suspect.

This post says more.

I agree that while some things work without face to face, a lot will fail to be picked up. Lots of mis-diagnosis, lots of failure to diagnose.

Looking at previous post, you have been started on just 25mcg levothyroxine

This often causes increased symptoms

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change in levothyroxine.

You should be getting dose increase up to 50mcg after next test

Always test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
