Anybody out there taking Tirosint? Would love to hear your experience when your medication was increased.
TIROSINT: Anybody out there taking Tirosint... - Thyroid UK
TIROSINT
I take Tirosint. I’m not exactly sure what you are asking?
How long have you been taking Tirosint and did you get any side effects?
I’ve been taking Tirosint since 2014. It has worked very well for me with no side effects as it has very little filler ingredients. (I take the gel tabs). I had issues with other Levo brands but not with Tirosint. It’s important to note that I’m in the US. Not sure if Tirosint is the same in other countries.
I take Tirosint in liquid form. I am currently on a very low dose 50cmg and I hope when my Endocrinologist increases my dosage I won't feel ill. When I started taking it I started sweating a lot
I have not experienced that effect. Do you have recent bloods?
A better question to post to the forum might be “has anyone experienced excess sweating when starting Levo?”
Tirosint is known to be more potent/have a higher absorption rate than order brands. It could be that your body is adjusting to the influx of thyroid hormones and will level off. It’s hard to say. Folks will want to see recent blood results to try to help you determine what’s going on.
Another thing - I’m sure it’s difficult to get accurate dosing with a liquid medication. How do you know you are only taking 50mcg?
I take Tirosint and also T3. Have had no issues with the Tirosint after switching from Synthroid. I've been on it for over 2 years now.
I just read a little more of your past posts. Two years ago you wrote that you were starting menopause. Are you on HRT? Sex hormones and thyroid hormones need to be balanced. I used to have terrible night sweats and hot flashes until I got onto the right combo of HRT. (I’m on a custom compounded transdermal cream containing Progesterone and two forms of Estrogen).
50mcg of Levo is a starter dose and you’ve been on that for two years. I’m pretty sure your system is wanting more and you should have received increases steadily until your blood results show you are balanced. For comparison, I currently take 150 mcg Tirosint Sun, M, W, F and 125mcg Tirosint Tu, Th, Sat. I also take Liothyronine (T3) in a custom compounded transdermal cream.
My thoughts are you are woefully under-medicated and it will take time to slowly increase your Tirosint until your symptoms subside.
My menopausal symptoms come and go.. I am taking sage tablets which seem to help me with the sweats and primrose oil. I think the stress made my hot flushes worse. I will be going back to the Endocrinologist with a new blood test in 2/3 months time. I am going to write to her in these days.
