By way of a 14 month up-date....

Last week my lower legs and feet started to swell up. I contacted my GP and was asked to have my bloods taken. I was then given an immediate appointment.

Sadly I’ve relapsed and my bloods are the same as I was back when I was first diagnosed with an over active thyroid. A follow up appointment has been arranged with my endo at hospital.

Personally I seem to be handling it a bit better this time around as I suppose I know what’s commingled.

You do. And while it’s not ideal, you know what’s coming and how it’ll work. But now you know a lot more about the condition itself.

Just make sure your doctors are also reacting to the right numbers though. Make sure they’ve tested FT3 and FT4 as well as TSH and that you really are over-active, instead of *under-active*. With Graves (if that’s what you have), there can be a scenario where your TSH is suppressed but your FT4 and FT3 levels are in range or low in range, which could mean you’re actually under active instead of overactive.

Hope you start to feel a lot better soon.

Hi was told from the horses mouth it’s over active.

T4 78. Normal range 10.0 to 22.0.

TSH. 0.01. Range. 0.30 to 4.50.

You may not realise that you can edit, or delete, any posts or responses you have made here.

HealthUnlocked have produced some help for how to do this. You can find this here:

support.healthunlocked.com/...

When you edit the original post in a thread, you will also have the option to add (or remove) a single image. (To replace an image, remove the existing image, then add the new one.) This is the same process as writing a new post:

support.healthunlocked.com/...

I am pointing this out purely to ensure that you know your options. :-)

(If you make extensive changes, it is sometimes helpful to add a comment so that people can see that you have made changes.)

Please do not feel the need to respond to this.

OK—thanks for confirming and I hope you didn’t mind me checking. Wouldn’t be the first time someone gave a thyroid patient a completely inaccurate diagnosis. :) That’s definitely overactive.

Hopefully you’re not going to have to wait to long to see the Endo?

I think if we know what is happening we can cope better with any 'surprises'. I am sure many would panic if legs and feet started to swell.

I hope you have a quick appointment with the Endo and wish you well.

I’ve now been put back on carbiazole 40mg.

Feet and legs are slowly going down with the help of Furosemide. (Water tablets)
