Thyroid
No, oestrogen can effect the amount of thyroxine bound to plasma proteins and a healthy thyroid can adapt to keep thyroid hormones in balance, but oestrogen can’t help a failing thyroid. Why would you think this?
I'm not sure just feeling so crappy fatigued like no other low blood pressure one min then high next my eyes have started bulging out & felt odd in myself just thought if it wasnt working right to put a hrt patch on! Just dunno what to do as feeling so bad
Hi Di01, just picking up in what you said about your eyes. If they are bulging please see an optician ASAP as you may have thyroid eye disease. Early treatment really helps, eg starting selenium supplements & eye drops. This can happen with either hyper or hypo thyroid conditions, although mostly with hyper. However I & some others on the forum have this with Hashimotos. Do keep posting if you need further advice or support. Can you post your most recent thyroid blood tests so members can better advise?
If your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormones then the only way to sort that is to take thyroid hormones
Di01,
Welcome to our forum.
The answer to your question depends upon many variants such as the levels of your thyroid and female hormones, your (peri)menopausal state and nutrient/iron levels.
It is true that good thyroid function does depend upon other hormones so if you have any test results to share (complete with ranges) members will comment.
Welcome to the forum
First thing is, do you have any actual blood test results?
if not will need to get hold of copies.
You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.
The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results
UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.

In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet
Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.
Important to see exactly what has been tested and equally important what hasn’t been tested yet
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
