How too lose weight
I’ll admit, I was wondering what the advice was going to be, as so often these sites recommend something completely unachievable and worse, probably not advisable. But in the main, there’s some good advice there.
I remember reading a few years ago that actually, the key to changing a poor diet is to add good things to what you’re eating, rather than radical change. So for example, it’s unlikely, if you’re used to eating a lot of pasta and sauce, that you’re going to switch to eating chicken salad overnight. You might manage it the first day and possible even the second but by the third, well... you’ll probably lose the salad completely and reach for your trusty bowl of pasta and sauce. The trick, apparently, is to add the salad to the pasta and sauce, to get used to adding more nutrition to the meals you would have eaten anyway. I can see the sense in this! (Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with pasta and sauce—I just used that as an example to get the point across). Oh, and to eat the salad first—before chowing down on the pasta. Chances are you’ll end up eating less pasta.
For me though, one of the key things to manage before embarking on any kind of weight reducing diet are my stress levels. But that’s increasingly easier said than done.
Thanks.
Weight gain when hypothyroid seems to be common to a lot of people. I've read that it could be due to not being on an optimal dose as many doctors think that if our results are 'within range' that our dose is sufficient. Rarely do they test FT3 and FT4. Both should be in the upper part of the ranges and also TSH 1 or lower but quite a number of doctors seem to believe if TSH is 1 etc that our dose is too high and are apt to reduce to bring TSH 'somewhere' within the ranges.
