Hi, can’t help with diet etc but my sister in law had thyroid cancer about fifty years ago. She was very young - maybe just 20. She had just had her second baby when she noticed a lump on her throat. Unfortunately her doctors left it until she finished breast feeding so about a year later what they thought was a ‘only’ a cyst turned out to be a malignant tumour.
She had a total thyroidectomy to get rid of the cancer. At that point she was studying for an OU degree in maths. She even took her books into hospital with her when she was having radiotherapy after the operation - in plastic bags! Think that wad one of the things that helped her through it. That and my mom looking after the baby and a toddler.
Since then she has finished her degree, taught for years, hobbies included rock climbing, hill walking mountain biking, sailing, camping and has travelled all over the world. Obviously she has taken thyroxine all of her life but she is a pensioner and grandmother now but since her recovery from thyroid cancer she has had and is having a fantastic life.
I remember her hating and being really stressed when she had to go for her check ups afterwards, obviously it was terribly worrying, certainly in the beginning but all went well for her.
Hopefully things will go just as well for you. It’s a very scary process and the shock when you hear the C word is terrible. But there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. ☀️
