Does anyone know of a vegetarian liothyronine ?

I get an NHS prescription for liothyronine. I've been getting Thybon Henning for the last couple of years. Tesco pharmacy have told me that it is unlikely that they will be able to get me anymore due to Brexit changes.

I'd be grateful if you could tell me of any liothyronine that is currently available that does not use mixers containing animal products. Tertroxin contains acacia powder which I can't tolerate and magnesium stearate which is usually from animals. I can't tollerate the variations in strength from Teva which is probably not vege anyway.

Thanks for your help. It is always much appreciated.

Private prescription enables access to Thybon Henning 20mcg tablets at £1 per tablet

From specialist pharmacies in U.K.

Might be possible to get on NHS prescription....same pharmacies

Can you let me know if you find it’s possible

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I've never needed a private prescription. I'm not sure how they work. I assume my gp provides it. Is there a fee? I can only get one month at a time on NHS prescription, is it the same for private prescriptions?Do you know when the list on Thyroid UK was updated? I've not had any problems at all with Thybon Henning until the last month. The problem seems to be that Henning has refused to ship to the UK since Brexit. If that's the case, it's probably the same for the pharmacies on the list.

I looked into the three British licenced liothyronines. I ruled Teva out - I've had problems with it before. Mercury Pharma Advanz is not vegetarian. I emaqiled Morningside. They replied very quickly. It is vege friendly but it contains "Spray dried acacia". I've reacted badly to acacia in the past. I doubt spray dried will be any better for me!

Is there a list anywhere of foreign liothyronine brands?

Your help is really appreciated.

There are hundreds of members who get Thybon Henning . Majority on private prescription. They used to order direct from Germany (at 31 euro for 100 tablets)

Now that option is closed as we are no longer member of EU

Fortunately specialist pharmacies in U.K. are now able to supply Thybon Henning on private prescription

Not sure if any on that list will supply for NHS prescription. Or if it’s private prescriptions only

Highly unlikely that your GP would be able to write private prescription.

I contacted Thybon Henning two or three years ago. They assured me that it was vegetarian.

Is there a list anywhere of foreign liothyronine brands?

Yes - albeit incomplete, it does have all current USA products and many others:

dropbox.com/s/shcwdwpedzr93...

You'll have to trawl through them to find out what they contain. There are links to enable to you to do so for many but it might take a lot of effort.
