Advice re diet

Hello,

I started something called seed cycling about 10 months ago to help regulate my menstrual cycle after my second child.

It’s basically taking a well freshly ground tablespoon of flax and a table spoon of pumpkin seeds and fish oils tbe first half of the cycle, then a tablespoon of sesame and a tablespoon of sunflower seeds and evening primrose the second half.

Another woman I know who is on thyroxine has queried if it’s likely to have an impact on her thyroids levels - conversion or interrupting something etc as she’s had some issues.

We have both considered the timing of the seeds, and perhaps not taking them in the morning if thyroxine is taken in the morning / longer than the usual hour suggested. I suppose treating a bit like if you were taking iron, more than 4 hours.

Research suggests some of them are good sources of positive things eg selenium and zinc.

There’s a few suggestions that flax is goitrogenic but I can’t find any hard data on that and how much is an issue. I tend not to fully avoid those foods but eat in the afternoon and I don’t eat soya.

I just wondered if anyone has any further suggestions or info? A number of women who choose seed cycling do so for fertility and are sometimes also on low dose thyroxine so it’s potentially something that should be noted and advised. (Including one who actually swapped the thyroxine for the seeds...!! Not really understanding any of it.)

I don’t really want to stop as I have found it really helps regulate my cycle, but info is useful! I’m now taking them in the evening with yoghurt.
