Anxiety on metavive is it a sign of overmedication or crashed adrenals?

Hi community,

I started metavive 20 days ago Increasing Dosis every 5 days. Nothing special happened.

When I reached the dose of

*2 metavive pro (120mg) + 2 meta 2*

I started experiencing some anxiety and Strong heartbeat ( not quicker heartbeat but stronger)

So I backed up to 1 meta pro + 1 meta 2

And yesterday Night I took 1 meta 2 at bedtime.

>> for the first time I woke up full of energy. And my face and fingers were less swollen.

( still fatigue, low temperature, low mood etc...)

AND I spent the whole morning feeling anxious. Like really anxious. :( having horrible thoughts...

I don’t know if this horrible anxious state is related to too much t3.

To low cortisol. Low iron..

The naturopath I’m working with doesn’t take these parameters into consideration. And she asks for money for every question...

Should I take my single dose at bedtime? Instead of morning?

What would you do if you were me?

A million thanks in advance

Anxiety is linked to high cortisol rather than low cortisol, I'm not sure that adrenals can "crash".........

Have you considered seeing a different naturopath? Do you have a decent GP?

Think you needed to reply to hendb......

I decided not to see her anymore. I feel lots of resentment toward her.

I don’t have another one to consult. Would you have any reco?

I'm sorry but I've had very low cortisol and my anxiety was off the Richter scale! Incidentally. Symptoms can overlap.

Oh ok I didn’t know that ....

Two years ago I did a cortisol saliva test and it was low. Low. Low. High

I wonder if I should take my dosage at noon instead of morning...

And what did you do to sort out the low low low and high adrenals? They need to be sorted before you have any hope of ticking over nicely. Do you track your average temperatures every day so you can see how the adrenals are doing? Download a how to do it chart from. drrind.com/metabolic-temper...

At that time I took HC in addition to a t3/t4 compound... HC helped for a week or two then stoped working so I stopped it because I didn’t want to be dependent on it

Actually my hypo situation is quite weird because in spring and summer I can leav without any medication. But as soon as autumn and winter arrive I totally fall apart :;

I took hc for over a year, tapering off very slowly. Maybe time for you to start seriously doing the temperature plotting so you can at least see what those adrenals are up to.. if you arent taking meds through summer, maybe you have depleted all your t4 stores?

Yes you’re right. I will start measuring temperature. Thanks for the link

Could you explain the « depleted t4 stores » things?...

Every winter since my pregnancy I gained tons of weight. I’m lethargic and have strong invalidating hypo symptoms.

Every winter I try every possible thyroid medication with almost zero success...

And in summer I stop medication and feel better ( not optimal at all. As tired is my normal state of being :(

But still

Well levothyroxine, t4 is a storage hormone. Your body stores it and when you need some energy its converted to t3 . If you dont take any thyroid hormones at all, eventually all of the storage hormone will be used up. However if taking it is making you feel worse, have you looked at the ingredients in the brands you are taking? The reason that some people feel better for not taking thyroid medication, is apparantly because adrenals jump in to bolster us up. But yours are running below par so no chance.

I struggled with weight loss for years and years, Working out with a trainer left me completely worn out. Then i did a 23 and me gene test, downloaded my raw data, checked it and found i have a oroblem with methylation, which is why i cannot get on with some meds and why my folate levels were dropping. I took methyl folate, got my levels up and 2 stones vanished as if by magic. Back on again, but i havenpbeen a bit lazy recently.

(The methylation problem was down to the mthfr c677t Gene.)

This is just amazing!!

And what about your thyroid? Are you on any medication?

I read that methylation problems were related to leaky gut. And I beleive I also have MRHFR gene mutation :(

Thus our bodies are. It able to detoxifie properly

My lab works always show extremely high b12. B6 etc

And it’s related to hypo ( as well as very high cholesterol)... but it’s also related to mthr

Im 42 and I feel that I never fully lived this life. It’s sad

If you have an mthfr problem watch like a hawk that you dont get folic acid...... i was just ordering methyl b12 from amazon and found some new cheap ones, double checking the ingredients showed folic acid! I have gone back to swansons. I gave up Gluten almost 2 years ago , made a huge difference to energy and bloating. I got caught out last November and it made me feel dreadful. Tired, hot, sweaty, bloated and dire rear.

I have been on thyroid meds for well over 30 years. Ndt for the past 10 years, T3 and t4 for 10 years and before that t4 only. I prefer ndt, but self fund it. As its difficult to find, am considering a try of t4. Maybe. Am ok for another year, but, after that, who knows.
