Hi everyone!

Apologies for yet another call out to you knowledgeable people, I need help in understanding my iron tests. I have a history of iron deficiency, forgive me if Im wrong, do I have iron overload. I havnt taken any iron supplement since August! Im trying to research, can I still have anemia with these levels?

I have a telephone appointment with my endo tomorrow evening, I'd like to be able to discuss the results instead of behaving like a brain fogged lunatic.

Transferrin Saturation Index 38% (16-45)

Saturation of iron binding capacity 78% (45 - 70) above reference range

Serum Iron level 29.8 (8.8-27) above ref range.

TSH 1.53 (0.35 -4.94)

Free triodothyroine level 4.4 (2.6 - 5.7)

Vit D 77.6 (71-200)

I havnt taken any medication of any kind for just over 4 weeks now. Not because I dont want to, I just havnt been able to speak to my NHS gp to get the bloods requested from private endo.

Needless to say I am literally bed bound now

fatigue

palor, very dark circles around the eyes

breathless

pins and needles fingers, toes and feet

swollen tongue

very hard skin on the elbows surrounded with what I think is ezema. skin very dry elsewhere.

painful joints, feet hurt when getting out of bed

I wont bore you with the rest.........

Now 100% gluten free (cheated every now and then) no refined sugar, I am trying so hard!!

I feel and look 101 not 51!

Sorry that your symptoms are so debilitating. Your low Vit.D level could well be a contributing factor here. I definitely notice the difference when my level drops below the very top of the range. Regarding your iron levels, if they have been consistently concerning, your GP should actually refer you to a haematologist, as they will be able to carry out relevant investigations. Maybe your endo could push them to do this? Hope you find some answers soon.
