Season's Greetings

For everyone, whether in lockdown or not, I wish all a good Christmas and New Year. Looking at 2020 in the rearview mirror, I'm personally glad to leave it behind. Also in this year of 2020 I think we are beginning to see doubts in the endocrinologists of any repute that show all is not well in the treatment regime of therapy. They unfortunately are barking up a more modest tree by reciting the effects of genetic variation on thyroid function. That this has an effect is inarguable but it isn't the whole or even a major part of the story. Let's hope for more advances in thinking in 2021 and beyond.

Your posts are an inspiration to us all diogenes . Here's 'Hoping' for a 'Better', 'Healthier' , 'Safer' 2021. However, with 'covid' circulating more and more I unfortunately 'doubt it' personally.

On a positive:- 'Letter from Endo today saying he's organising for me to have a 'synachtan test' (his spelling!), due to sending him results of Regenurus Cortisol results (low).

May as well mention what 'he' actually wrote (hope you don't mind me waffling):-

'Thank you for forwarding the results that you had done privately checking your salivary cortisol day profile. This isn't a standard approach that we use here, but in view of the fact that they did show that your cortisol levels are on the low side I think for completeness I will organise for you to come into our medical day case unit for a formal short synacthan test.

You mention in your letter a PTH test, but there is no indication for doing this because parathyroid hormone is not linked to your pituitary gland nor is it related to your thyroid function other than the parathyroid glands being in the vicinity of the thyroid gland'.

Well, heyho, that's his take on 'it'.!

Happy Christmas, and hope you have 'A good One'
