Christmas Greetings from the dugout!

I wish all on TUK the very best for Christmas and New Year. May 2020 be a year when the enemy finally admits surrender and a reign of rationality and thoughtfulness begins. Even a few troops surrenduring will be a hopeful sign. However I still have fears that the UK at least will remain content under the new still inadequate guidelines backed up by the refusal of US leaders to acknowledge what is in front of their faces. We travel in hope rather than certainty.

Merry Christmas to you and everyone in the dugout.

Let’s hope in 2020 that those agnostics see thyroidology as we do, and not clouded behind TSH.

Happy New Year to all

I'd like a 'freedom of information in the USA' of how much Big Pharma pays to doctors etc to only prescribe certain medications?

Dr Lowe stated that it was due to corruption that levo became the No.1 prescribed tablet.

Our BTA aren't without blame as they have removed NDT through False Statements and also T3 (due to cost - despite cheaper T3s available) . They must think they're above the disappointment of sick patients who were healthy on either of these and the cost to the NHS i.e. seeing doctors more often, getting prescribe 'alternatives' which make them feel far more unwell - losing their livelihoods altogether - consulting endocrinologists with no luck or change in attitudes and those who step out of the 'guidelines' such as Dr Skinner and Dr Peatfield and others we don't know about lose their livelihoods altogether. They treated patients as they were taught as junior doctors.

Not every single person on this planet can recover on certain medications - no matter what the particular ailment is.

Thanks to good doctors like yourself and your Team - but your research is ignored by the majority of 'supposed to be' experts who have failed many thousands of sick people and patients are all tarred with the same brush i.e. mentally ill. I also know of one who committed suicide - others are unknown.

There must be thousands of family members who are completely puzzled why their family member is complaining so much and doctors stating there's nothing wrong. How many now have mental health issues and taking medications for this when thyroid hormones are needed.

All the best for Christmas and New Year and have a lovely Christmas.

There is already such a thing in the USA - the Physician Payments Sunshine Act. Doctors have to declare the gifts and money they receive from pharmaceutical companies or others. The database is open for searching on the internet.

I suspect the level of detail you would want, on payments specifically related to the thyroid, is unavailable.

Keep lobbing those high powered research grenades at them - in the name of progress and peace of course...it is a battle well worth fighting, even if it proves to be a protracted affair.

Happy Solstice to you!

I am pressurizing my local MP to put my case to Matt Hancock ... she has sent me a letter telling me she will but having seen her face to face I do not exactly trust her especially when she told me she used to work for a well know global bank! I will keep emailing her until she does what she promised me.

Have a good break from your frontline dugout Diogenes and feel safe in the knowledge that there are many thousands, like me , who deeply value what you and your team are doing.

I'm just reading Bill Bryson's 'The Body' which, sadly, doesn't say much about the Thyroid, but has an interview with Prof John Wass of Oxford University talking about how hormones were the last major system in the body to be discovered. Bryson describes him as " ..a tireless campaigner for a better appreciation of hormones and what they do for us .".

Does he know about your work I wonder?
