Low blood pressure after increasing levothyroxine dose?

Hello everyone

My TSH was 26 nine months ago. My endo told me to take 200 mcg on two days and 100 mcg on the rest of the week. After 8 weeks my tsh was 0.1. One of the symptoms I had was low blood pressure. My endo told me to take 150 on sundays and 100 mcg on other days. Then my tsh was 1.6. I always felt tired so i decided to take 150 mcg on saturdays and sundays. Again my blood pressure was 7.5 after 5 weeks. I didn't have my tsh checked but I think it's still in the normal range. Has anyone experienced low blood pressure when levo dosage increased?

That doesn't make sense, it's impossible to have a blood pressure reading of 7.5, blood pressure is not measured like that. Blood pressure has two numbers - systolic (top number) and diastolic (bottom number) and a good, normal blood pressure would be 120/80. So what exactly have you had measured to be 7.5?

A GP measured my blood pressure. He said it's (75). He didn't tell me what the diastolic number was.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Come back with new post once you get results

High blood pressure can be reversed when taking thyroid medication. I knew someone who was on medication for high bp, but as their thyroid medication was increased , they gradually had their bp medication decreased until finally, their blood pressure was ‘normal’.

Thank you Muffy. I don't have high blood pressure. I read on many websites that hypothyroid patients might be undermedicated. I increased my pills by 50 mcg but my blood pressure was 75 after 5 weeks. I don't understand how some patients take higher doses and feel well. I don't feel any difference between the time my tsh was 2.5 and when it was lower than 1. Except heart palpitations.

Do you know what your FT3 level is?!

No. My endo only check my tsh.
