I have previously been on a dose of 75mcg Levo. After having a baby 13 weeks ago. My thyroid results are showing at T4 of 54 (range 12-22) and a TSH of 0.01 (range .27-4.2) which is well outside my usual readings.
Should I stop taking my Levo immediately?
I’m also due to have a procedure under general anaesthetic next week. Can A high T4 of 54 cause any issues?
Thanks

Yes you need to stop levothyroxine at the moment, you may need to restart again once levels drop
This is likely a Hashimoto’s flare
Have you had thyroid antibodies tested?
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies NOW if not been tested yet
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
