Should I increase my thyroxine?

I usually take 175 Levothyroxine, my result was checked by a nurse not doctor. I usually have the blood checked every six months -

May 2019 blood test Serum TSH level (XaELV) 3.05 miu/L [0.35 - 3.5

January 2019 Serum TSH level (XaELV) 2.8 miu/L [0.35 - 3.5]

CQC have deemed my surgery to be inadequate.

Shall I halve a 25 or quarter it so I just get a little more?

Thanks

I would say you need an increase of 25 mcg. That TSH is far too high for someone on thyroid hormone replacement. And 75 mcg is not much more than a starter dose. Very few people would be well on that. :)

Oh, sorry! My mistake. But, it's not enough, is it. Because your TSH is rising.

Can you please just confirm, it is 175mcg Levo you take? That's quite a high TSH for someone taking that dose.

Testing TSH only is inadequate. You need FT4 and FT3 tested also. And if not already done and tested positive, then thyroid antibodies.

It would also help to test:

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Optimal nutrient levels are needed for thyroid hormone to work properly.

So I think you need the full thyroid and vitamin panel. If GP wont or can't get them all tested then you can do what hundreds of us here do and that is a private test with one of the private labs recommended by ThyroidUK.

Medichecks Thyroid Check UltraVit

or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus Eleven.

No feel rubbish. Tired putting on weight again. Brain fog forgetting stuff. I do have a lot going on atm but I am 51 and periods not stopped. Gynecologist said as mums had stopped aged 40 mine should have this was a few years ago. I will leave a message for my own doctor see what she says. Thanks all.

You need full blood tests including vitamins. It's very common to have low vit D, ferritin and other vitamins, especially if you have antibodies.

It will cause symptoms.
